Anna “Ann” (Scribner) Crane

HAVERHILL: Anna “Ann” (Scribner) Crane, 93, died peacefully Sunday evening at her daughter’s home in Atkinson. Mrs. Crane was the wife of the late William “Red” Crane.

Born in Haverhill September 30, 1915, Mrs. Crane was the daughter of the late Arthur C. and Mabel (Folkins) Scribner.

Following her graduation from Haverhill High School in 1933, she continued her education and graduated from Lesley College in 1937. She established the Ann Crane Kindergarten in 1937 which celebrated its 71st anniversary this year. Until her retirement, Mrs. Crane personally welcomed children at the door with her warm smile, each morning that school was in session. Her dedication to young children and her commitment to offering high-quality childhood education has made “Ann Crane’s” a household name in the community.

Mrs. Crane was a member of the First Congregational Church, Women’s City Club of Haverhill, Friends of Haverhill public Library, Haverhill Historical Society, Winnekenni Foundation, and Lesley College Alumni Association Survivors. A lifelong resident of Haverhill Mrs. Crane, together with her late husband and family, enjoyed vacationing in Ossipee, NH. She was also a life-long lover of dogs and was never without a faithful companion by her side.

She is survived by her daughter Mary-Ann Scott and her husband Thomas of Atkinson; four grandchildren, and five great grandchildren. Her son William “Bill” Crane died in 2006. Bill’s wife Lois lives an Salem, NH

Relatives and friends are invited to the funeral Saturday 10:00 a.m. at Dole, Childs & Shaw Funeral Home, 148 Main Street, Haverhill. Interment at Linwood Cemetery.
