Beatrice R. (Pendlebury) Ackroyd
NORTH ANDOVER: Beatrice R. (Pendlebury) Ackroyd, 95, passed away peacefully on May 8, 2012 at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House in Haverhill surrounded by her family. She was the wife of the late Herbert Ackroyd, Sr.
Born in Lawrence on May 9, 1916, Mrs. Ackroyd was the daughter of the late Thomas and Alice (Leach) Pendlebury.
Mrs. Ackroyd had worked for many years and most recently at Raytheon Corp. before retiring in 1978. She was a graduate of Johnson High School in North Andover. She was a member of the former Trinity Congregational Church and former Lawrence Street Congregational Church of Lawrence, and was a former member of the Order of Eastern Star. As an accomplished artist she created many paintings in oil and watercolor, and created ceramics using her own kiln. Mrs. Ackroyd also found enjoyment sewing, baking, cooking, and gardening.
She is survived by her children, Charles W. Ackroyd of Seabrook, NH, Norma Jean Zecchini and her husband Allan of
Salem, NH; nine grandchildren including the late Deborah J. Zecchini; nineteen great grandchildren and nine great great
grandchildren. Mrs. Ackroyd was the mother of the late Herbert Ackroyd, Jr., and sister of the late Thomas
Pendlebury, Evelyn Card and Shirley Pinaud.
