Betty Martha (Maberry) Cole

HAVERHILL: Betty Martha (Maberry) Cole, 82, formerly of Laconia, NH, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, October 30, 2010.

Betty was born in Haverhill on February 4, 1928, the second daughter of the late Helen P. Maberry.
While residing in Laconia, Betty and her spouse, William "Billy" Cole, owned and operated the Bayside Food Center and Sportsman's Den. After her spouse passed away in 1972, Betty relocated to Port Orange, FL where she lived for more than 25 years before moving back to Haverhill to live with, and care for, her elderly mother.

Betty had a passion for sports and was an avid golfer while residing in Laconia and Florida. She loved to watch sports on television, especially golf and tennis. Her creative side was marked by her love for gardening, sewing and knitting-hobbies she did for pleasure, gift-giving and charitable purposes. Betty was a member of the First Baptist Church in Haverhill where she attended weekly service and Bible study. Her friendly, easy-going nature was her strongest personal asset.

Survivors include her two loving sisters, Helen Haynes of Pulaski, NY and Jean Allen of Haverhill. She was predeceased by her youngest sister and brother-in-law Norma and Harvey Dutile of Laconia, and her two brothers-in-law Robert Allen of Haverhill and Charles Haynes of Pulaski, NY. Betty is survived by her three nieces, Norma Jean Ballou, Betti Lee Haynes, and Sandra Jarvis; two nephews; Peter Dutile, and
Scott Allen, and many cousins. All of Betty's family and friends will miss her frequent greeting cards, letters, and telephone call.

A celebration of Betty's life will be held on Saturday, November 13, 2010, at 3:00 p.m., at First Baptist Church, 217 Main Street, Haverhill, MA 01830.
