Clifford A. Ohnemus

HAVERHILL: Clifford A. Ohnemus, 81, formerly of Wellesley, Byfield, and Ossipee, NH, died June 17, 2007 at the Bedford VA Alzheimer Unit.

Born in Waltham, MA on January 7, 1926, son of the late Clifford A. Sr. and Victoria (Thompson) and brother of the late Elizabeth L. Wolfe. He attended Waltham schools, and served in World War 11 in the U.S. Army Air Force. In 1948 he married Jeanne (Kelley), his beloved wife of 59 years. A graduate of Boston University, Cliff was owner and president of Clark Moving Co. (BESCO) and served for three years as President of Mass. Movers Association.

He particularly enjoyed being a general aviation pilot and aircraft owner, belonging to the AOPA as well as the Quiet Birdmen. Both Cliff and Jeanne earned their private pilots licenses, with multiengine and instrument ratings, enabling them to travel extensively together. Throughout his life he was an avid reader, and enjoyed boating and woodworking.

His survivors include his wife Jeanne, and his five daughters; Jan Ohnemus, Cynthia Hurvitz, Kimberly Dennis, Kristin Vlass, Kelley McGrath; sons-in-law Thomas Stagliano, Peter Hurvitz and Michael Vlass; nine beloved grandchildren and seven nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to an informal celebration of his life: Village at Brickett Hill Clubhouse, Haverhill, at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 23, 2007. Memorial contributions may be made to the Voluntary Services @ Unit 62 AB, VA Hospital, 200 Springs Rd., Bedford, MA 01730. Private burial services will be at the discretion of his family. Arrangements by Dole, Childs & Shaw Funeral Home, 148 Main Street, Haverhill.
