HAMPSTEAD, NH: C. Earle Gordon, 89, formerly of Haverhill,
died Saturday at Penacook Place surrounded by members of his
family. Mr. Gordon was the husband of Priscilla J. (Emerson)
Born in Groveland August 15, 1917, Mr. Gordon was the son of
the late Daniel H. and Mabel E. (Hunt) Emerson.
Mr. Gordon graduated from both Haverhill High and Haverhill
Trade Schools class of 1935. He was a master mechanic who
gained knowledge of cars while working for his father at
Gordon’s Garage in Haverhill. When urban renewal claimed
the property in 1967 he opened his own business, Gordon &
Sons, in Newton, NH where he worked for several years until
his retirement. Mr. Gordon had been a resident of Hampstead
since 1967, and had served on the Hampstead Police
Department for fourteen years. He was a member of the
Charles C. Dame Lodge in Georgetown, MA, and received his
fifty yearpin in 1994.
Besides his wife of 67 years, he is survived by his
daughter, Nancy Ann Pike, Nampa, ID; sons, Richard E.
Gordon, East Kingston, NH, Ronald P. Gordon, North Fort
Myers, FL; six grandchildren; nine great grandchildren, and
several nieces and nephews. Mr. Gordon was the brother of
the late Cpt. Clifton L. Gordon who died during the Battle
of the Bulge, and Raymond E. Gordon.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial
service Wednesday 7:00 p.m. at Dole, Childs & Shaw Funeral
Home, 148 Main Street, Haverhill. Memorial contributions may
