Gerald E. White
GROVELAND: Gerald E. White, 88, passed away on March 29, 2013 at Penacook Place. Mr. White was the husband of May L. (Guest) White.
Born in Haverhill on January 7, 1925, he was the son of the late Clarence E. and Eva A. (Watts) White.
Following his graduation from Groveland High School, Class of 1943 Gerald enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in Northern France as a PFC with the 1262 Service Command Unit before his honorable discharge in 1946. Early in his career he worked as a stone mason before joining the U.S. Postal Service as a letter carrier, and worked 24 years before retiring in 1985. Gerald was a member of the Groveland Congregational Church, Saggahew Lodge A.F. & A.M., Pentucket Royal Arch Chapter and Haverhill Council Royal & Select Masters, Haverhill Commandry #14 KT, and VFW Post 7608 in Georgetown.
Besides his wife of 66 years, he is survived by his children, Linda Nelson and her husband Harold of Londonderry, NH, Thomas White and his wife Kathleen of Groveland; grandchildren, Bonnie Balsamo of Colorado, Timothy Balsamo and his wife Jamie of Londonderry, NH, Alana White and Daniel White, both of Groveland; brother, Lester White and his wife Dorothy “Dot” of Groveland and several nieces and nephews. Mr. White was the brother of the late Bessie D’Lugosz and Newell White.
Friends are invited to attend a graveside service on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at Riverview Cemetery in Groveland. At the family’s request there will be no calling hours.
