Hector Valcarcel, Jr.
GEORGETOWN: Hector Valcarcel, Jr., 48, formerly of Bangor, ME and husband of Robin Gariepy Valcarcel, passed away on January 17, 2013 at Merrimack Valley Hospice House in Haverhill surrounded by his family. Born in New York City on June 21, 1964, Hector was the son of Esperanza “Hope” Rivera Santiago Valcarcel and the late Hector Valcarcel, Sr.
Hector graduated from Whittier Regional Vo-Tech, Class of 1983 where he studied Culinary Arts. He continued his education, studying Culinary Arts, at Eastern Maine Community College, and furthered his education, graduating with a degree in Business Administration, focusing on Hospitality, at Husson University in Bangor, ME. He served as a consultant for “Tastefully Simple” for several years, and owned his own catering business, “Ambrosia Catering”. He participated in catering at The Bar Harbor Hotel until his illness would not allow him to continue.
Hector served his community for many years in Bangor as a liaison at the Bangor Area Recovery Network, and was a sponsor to many on their road to recovery. He attended the CrossRoad Community Church in Ellsworth, ME, and the First Baptist Church in Haverhill, MA.
Besides his wife Robin of nine months, mother and stepmother Rhonda Beaulieu, Hector is survived by his sister, Ileana Valcarcel Moriera and husband Olimpio of Seabrook, NH; nieces, Ashley and Taisia; nephew, Ernani; stepdaughter, Justine, stepsons, Anthony and Nathaniel; a stepdaughter Shannon with two grandchildren, Britney and Brady, and great grandson, Jensyn. Hector leaves behind, and is loved and cherished by his many relatives and close friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to the calling hours at Dole, Childs & Shaw Funeral Home, 148 Main St., Haverhill, MA on Sunday, January 20, 2013 from 2:00to 6:00 p.m. The Memorial Service at the funeral home will follow at 6:00 p.m. with refreshments to follow at the First Baptist Church. Interment will be private. A Celebration of Life service will be conducted on June 22, 2013 when Hector’s ashes are spread in the presence of family and friends at Sabbaday Falls on the Kancamagus Highway in New Hampshire.
