Janice C. Fowler

ST. PETERSBURG, FL: Janice C. Fowler, 79, formerly of West Newbury, died Monday, June 1, 2010, after an extended illness.

Mrs. Fowler was born in Manchester, NH on March 3, 1931, the daughter of the late Lester and Marjorie (Rowe) Gauvin, and was the sister of the late Richard H. Gauvin. She grew up in Haverhill, attending the public schools and later attended McIntosh Business College. She was employed by the Haverhill Chamber of Commerce prior to starting her family. Janice was a devoted wife and mother who volunteered with the Cub Scouts, PTA, and Hale Hospital, and was a member of the Saint Margaret’s Guild at Trinity Episcopal Church.

Janice enjoyed her summers at Melvin Village by the lake  when her children were young. She loved to swim, take nature walks, square dance, decorate her home, and prepare festive meals for her family. She loved her pet collies, and was an avid Red Sox and NE Patriots fan.

Janice was predeceased by her loving husband of sixty years, Ralph L. Fowler. She is survived by her three children, Gary L. Fowler and his wife Kathleen of Hampstead, NH, Karen J. Anderson and her husband Robert of St. Petersburg, and David R. Fowler of West  Newbury. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Todd J. Anderson, Alison K. Fowler, and Brian R. Fowler.

Her family wishes to thank the Springs Nursing Home in St. Petersburg for their compassionate care during the past several years.

Calling hours will be at Dole, Childs & Shaw Funeral Home, 148 Main St., Haverhill on Friday, June 4th, from 6 to 8 p.m. The funeral Mass will be on Saturday, June 5th, at Trinity Episcopal Church, 26 White Street, Haverhill, at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at the Bridge Street Cemetery, West Newbury.
