Konstantina (Andreopoulos) Hanges
SALEM, NH: Konstantina (Andreopoulos) Hanges passed away peacefully on January 30, 2015, after a long courageous battle against Lewy Bodies Dementia, at Salemhaven Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center, in Salem, NH
Konstantina (Dina) was the daughter of Spero and Haritiny (Skeparnias) Andreopoulos.
She was born and raised in New York City. She was a homemaker who loved and cared tirelessly for all of her children. Dina regularly attended and was involved with activities in the Greek Orthodox Church. She was also a member and held positions of treasurer and secretary in several organizations; The Lions Club, Daughters of Penelope, Philoptochos, PTA and Scouts of America. She was a kind person who never had ill will towards anyone. She was extremely creative and truly loved to sing and dance. Dina loved to bake and was very well known for her Christmas cookies (Koulourakia).
She adored being around family and friends and worked at the family flower shop part-time (Park City Florist, Rego Park, NY) when her children were older. When the business was sold, she and her husband of 57 years, James Hanges (predeceased – February 2005), retired to Sun City West, AZ and enjoyed 10 sunny years of retirement together. There she enjoyed swimming and playing bingo and rummikub. A year after her husband's passing, she moved to Salem, NH to be closer to her children.
She is survived by her sons, Andrew Hanges of London, England, Perry Hanges and his wife Kristina (Tikelis) of Salem, NH, her daughters, Michelle (Hanges) Giuvelis and her husband John Giuvelis of Atkinson, NH, and Vikki Hanges and Randy Mackey of Santa FE, NM, by her four beloved grandchildren, Nicholas Hanges, Denise Giuvelis, Christopher Hanges and Raven Mackey, and also by her sister, Georgia Gilas, of Lynbrook, NY and her brother, Gus Andreopoulos of Niantic, CT, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends are invited to attend the funeral on Saturday, February 7th, at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Apostles Sts. Peter & Paul Greek Orthodox Church. Calling hours will precede the funeral, at the church, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Linwood Cemetery. Arrangements by Dole, Childs & Shaw Funeral Home, 148 Main Street, Haverhill.
