Marjorie A. "Marge" Wholley

HAVERHILL: Marjorie A. "Marge" Wholley, 86, died June 8, 2010 at Merrimack Valley Hospital.

Born in Haverhill on March 10, 1924, Ms Wholley was the daughter of the late Michael F. and Marion A. (Timmons) Wholley.

Marge was educated in Haverhill, and graduated from Haverhill High School, Class of 1941. Upon graduation, and at the outbreak of the war, she worked five years as an ordinance worker at the Watertown Armory. She then worked as a long distance operator at New England Telephone, and as an expeditor in engineering at Western Electric (Lucent Technology), for thirty-two years before her retirement in 1981. Marge was a member, and former Deaconess, of the First Congregational Church, and was a former Board member of the Stevens-Bennett Home.

She is survived by her nieces, Rebecca Nordengren and her husband Charles of Methuen, Rachael Gallagher and her husband Leland, and Marsha D'Arrigo, all of Bradford; nephews, Michael F. Wholley and his wife Judy, John R. Wholley, and Atty. Richard F. Wholley and his wife Kimberly, all of Haverhill. She was a great aunt to Charise, Ryan, Kevin, Kacey, Kallie, Ashlee, Justin, Leanne, Jake, Alyssa, Jason, Nathaniel and Jack. She was the sister of the late Richard F. Wholley. Marge wished to say in her own words,"To my friends and family, loyal and enjoyable, all my love."

Arrangements by Dole, Childs & Shaw Funeral Home, 148 Main Street, Haverhill, and the interment at Hilldale Cemetery, will be private. Donations in her memory may be made to Bethany Home, 10 Phoenix Row, Haverhill, MA 01832.
