Robert H. Casey

HAVERHILL: Robert H. “Bob” Casey, 89, passed away on November 8, 2016 at Academy Manor in Andover following a short stay. He was the husband of the late Lorraine E. (Reynolds) Casey.

Born in Boston on July 12, 1927 he was the son of the late William E. and Hazel M. (Emery) Casey.

Bob was educated in New Hampshire, and graduated from Nute High School in Milton, NH. He then entered the U.S. Navy where he served as a Machinist Mate Third Class onboard the destroyer U.S.S. Joseph P. Kennedy (DD-850) before his Honorable Discharge in 1947. Robert then entered New Hampshire Technical School. He worked as a Tool & Die Maker for various job shops before joining Brush Wellman in Newburyport.

Bob was a member of West Congregational Church where he served as Deacon, and was a member of the American Legion.

Besides his first wife, Grace (Horne) Casey, Robert is survived by his daughters, Denise Tobey of Kittery, ME, Bridget Casey of Exeter, NH; step-daughter, Marcia Baker and her husband Jeffrey of Strong, ME; grandchildren, Christopher Grant and his wife Bonny, Jamie Brown and her husband Mike, Scott Tobey, Michael Bates, Kristen Bates; thirteen great grandchildren; brother, William Casey and his wife Carol; sister-in-law, Phyllis Casey and several nieces and nephews. Robert was the brother of the late Joseph Casey, Emily Bunker and Marie Titcomb.

Family members would like to express their gratitude and thanks to the VA Administration and Medical Staff, Home Health Care Services and All Care Services for the warm and loving care extended to Bob.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial service on Saturday, November 19th, at 10:00 a.m., at West Congregational Church. Interment, with military honors, to follow at Hillside Cemetery. Arrangements under the direction of Dole, Childs & Shaw Funeral Home, 148 Main Street, Haverhill. Donations in Robert’s name may be made to West Congregational Church, 767 Broadway, Haverhill, MA 01832.
